Max Pechstein, Frank wearing a tux

1929, Oil on canvas
Permanent loan from private ownership

This painting clearly reveals the influence of the New Objectivity movement on Pechstein’s artwork during the 1920s. Pechstein portrayed his oldest son Frank – born by the artist’s first wife Lotte in 1913 – wearing an elegant tux using a much more moderate brush stroke and paying attention to details.
